Blipset Mono is a custom typeface born out of a desire to distill the organic nature of letters into a structured form. I was inspired by the aesthetics of heat maps and neural network diagrams, finding them to be fascinating ways of visualising data. With Blipset Mono, I attempted to draw attention to the more ‘energetic’ parts of individual letters, in a similar way that heat maps visualise areas of greatest activity.
